The text card reads: “Grange Stone Circle, built around 2000 BCE, is the largest of the many ancient stone circles in Ireland. Also called Lios na Grainsi (Stones of the Sun), it is indeed aligned to mark the rising or setting sun at specific times during the growing season. People still gather here at sunrise on the first of May, as well as for harvest celebrations. Local cattle feed on the grass. And trees and other plants and lichens grow to integrate with the weathered stones. A vigorous living presence contributes to the enduring energy and enchantment of this prehistoric site.”
